FAQs
Do I have to supply my dog’s own leash, harness, treats, and poop bags?
We generally have leashes and harnesses to fit any size dog, as well as treats, and poop bags. We always pick up after your dog and deposit waste in appropriate trash containers.
Do I get a progress report each day that you walk/care for my dog(s)/cat(s)?
If you want, each day that we provide service to your animals, we will text you a short report. But if we spot something unusual in their behavior or their health, we will be sure to let you know by text or phone call.
Do you handle small puppies?
Yes, we can care for small puppies. Depending on their age and whether they have had all their shots, it may not make sense to take them on long walks.
Do you pet sit animals other than dogs and cats?
We can comfortably care for a number of other animals, including mice/rats, fish, reptiles, and birds, so long as they are not too exotic nor too large, and so long as you’re willing to provide us with good instructions as to their care. Depending on what is needed, we will discuss any adjustment in the usual and customary charges for the additional service.
What if I want you to stay 24 hours at a time for pet sitting?
We will consider your request depending on whether we are available for 24-hour care on the dates you request. We have provided 24-hour care in the past for puppies whose owners have to be away for a few days and who need someone to continue the regular potty training routine. Or, you may need us for an older dog or a dog that gets anxious if someone is not around.
Are you licensed and insured?
We are a registered business with the state of California and we are insured by Kennel Pro, the largest underwriter of insurance for the dog/pet care industry.
Are you available for consultation on training or behavior issues?
We don’t mind sharing our experience with you if you have issues you need to address. However, we do not provide formal training or consulting services and we may refer you to any number of other resources or training options with which we are familiar.
Will I always have the same caregiver each day I’m scheduled for service?
We are family owned and staffed. Most of the time, scheduled service will be provided by Dan Togneri. However, if needed Gabe Togneri or Pat Thompson-Togneri will substitute for Dan. We will all be familiar with your specific needs for your dog(s) and/or cat(s).
What are your office hours? What’s the best way to communicate with you?
We will generally be available Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. You can email us at PawsitivelyGreatDogWalking@gmail.com or call our office number – (925) 247-5534 – (this is not a cell phone and won’t accept text messages). If we are not available when you email or call, we will usually get back to you within a few hours.
Can I call my caregiver directly?
No. Please direct all communication regarding service through our email address or office phone number as described above. Whether you wish to change a service date, comment on level and quality of service, or for any other reason, we want to hear about it directly and provide prompt and excellent service.
Are you available for “last minute”, unscheduled requests for dog walks or pet care needs?
Our primary focus is clients who need regular service, which is scheduled and reserved in advance. Our ability to provide on-demand dog walking or potty break/pet visits that are infrequent and/or unpredictable in nature may be limited and on a case-by-case basis. Vacation pet sitting services are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.
How do I cancel and how much notice do you need?
The Service/Rates and Policies page on our website goes into quite a bit of detail regarding our cancellation and payment policies. As a client obtaining service on a regular schedule, you are provided a number of penalty-free cancellation days each quarter. Also, known vacations with at least one week’s notice are accepted in addition to the penalty-free cancellation days. If you use up all of your penalty-free options, additional cancellations will be charged 100% of the usual fee.
How do I pay you?
We invoice at the end of each month. You may then go onto website – www.PawsitivelyGreatDogWalking.com (or simply www.PawGDW.com) and pay using your credit card or send us a check in the mail.
